Evreux 2012

Evreux-Fauville Air Base is a French Air Force base located east of the town of Évreux in France. During the Cold War, Évreux-Fauville was a front-line base for the United States Air Forces in Europe (USAFE) as part of NATO’s integrated military command. In 1967, the US forces withdrew and the French air force began again using the base, initially flying the Nord 2501 Noratlas. At present, the base is home of two French tactical transport squadrons flying mostly C-160 Transall transportation aircraft.

On 24 june 2012 took place an open day on the “Base Aérienne 105 d’Evreux”. That meeting was organized to celebrate the 45^th anniversary of the airbase, but also 100 years of military aviation in Normandy.

To be noted also that on Saturday 23 june was organized a spotter day…

In the air, there were the Patrouille de France (with Alpha-Jets); the superb Rafale; helicopter Fennec sater; a demo of refueling in the air with a Transall 160; Mirage 2000N; parachutists of the French army; an Atlantic 2 and a Super Puma.

On the ground were seen: Mirage 2000C, C135, Hercules C130 (that you had the opportunity to visit), Mirage F1 CR, Grob, C160, Epsilon, Mirage 2000D, ground material, demo of firemen, protection teams with dogs, Awacs (also visitable), and some other C160 static with expos ; amongst other things…

60.000 visitors were expected…
