They look so similar but I think that C. V were delivered in much more variants. R-5 served until 1944 and this is much long service.

Believe there also was a float version and I can also vaguely remember having seen one version with experimental V-tail

Great to say that Nico is right (as he always is), there is V tail test and here you are image. And I have completed one version layout, here you are result. Very soon will do one color profile, better to say, set of them.
