Post by: No.1 on August 30, 2007, 09:50:42 PM
Well- this month a very lazy for the forum but not for many of us. In this moment I am burning in the work for the final add for the forthcoming book about Fokker S-14 Machtrainer. This include color profiles and just some ago I have complete technically base for the series of samples which have to be done. Here it is how it look like in the moment. Book will go into print in October and in December will be officially presented.

Thank you friends  :-wave Book will be in Dutch and English. In the moment I have no precise info about the layout and design of the book. I am not engaged in the graphic design work. And here you are one rarity- L-1. Its start operational service in this look, then get color area as the sample before and lost tube in front of windshield and finally get new color pattern and badge on the tail.

Thank you mate. Realistic effect are always captured when you work from original images as source. Now we have game here- this sample L-8 feature both pattern. Old tail bands and flag and nose in the later pattern. In this moment wings markings are hypothetical.

When finished it will be most impressive; I am sure of this!
One remark: as you know the S-14 had an excessive long tailpipe that ran from the mid-fuselage to the tail end.
On the ground with the engine not running the tailpipe did not extend out of the rear section. However, in the air with the engine continueously producing a stream of very hot air it expanded outwards for approx. 5 cm. This is clearly visible from in-flight photos!

Well- I have made some more strokes on the oil painting and give more intensity to the sky and the fields. Now it is let to dry few weeks and then over it I will paint airplane. To regret something bad is also happen- during the final work on the Machtrainer lower side color profile, PC crashed. Result is complete damaged file and few day's work is gone forever. See how the file look like when PC crash during the hard work in Photoshop... there is no cure for this  :(

Yes, that is typically test pilot Gerben Sonderman in action with the S-14 prototype! Let's say it is a homage to a great pilot that died too early!
We have plans to use this illustration for the title page of the book. Book cover will show another and very beautiful S-14 illustration by the Dutch artist Lam van 't Hof.
We are now all working very hard to get everything ready for printing in November and for book release early December.
I haver already seen the first printed pages of the layout design and I can only say it looks GREAT!!
Book will be A4 size with hard cover and it will be some 175 pages with many illustrations. Book will be fully bi-lingual Dutch-English since not very much people outside my country speak our beatiful and colourful language!
The publisher doing the S-14 book has very recently released a book on the Fokker D-XXIII twin-boom fighter.
A reveiw will be placed on the website in a few days!

I have to inform you that printing of the Machtrainer book has been delayed.
However, it has been delayed for a very good reason: I have obtained from a friend lots of new information that gives a quite different 'view' on the Fokker S-14 history as always thought and as always given by 'officials'.
And...............this is all based on confidential information never released before!
I have also received from this friend a number of very rare and unpublished photographs of the S-14.

I would say: just wait until the book is released! I hope final delay will not be more that just a few weeks!
