Grumman Wildcat of the Ace

This profile present Grumman Wildcat F4F-4 built number 5093 from the USS Yorktown. On this plane was flew Lt Cdr John S. Thach, Commanding officer of VF-3. He was well known as the pre war one of the best aerial gunner and he proven his skill in the Battle of Midway where he shoot down three Zero fighter one torpedo bomber as well one probably while flying this plane. Also he had developed combat tactics for his unit.

I also love Grumman planes- so hard and rigid planes.
