Challenge- Savoia Marchetti SM79 rules  :-wise

We will all cooperate during this project. Simply upload what you have done, work in progress and this is it. In the particular project everybody will be included in the cover of each other. We don't fight for life here, we do not make competition. No winner just nice friendly challenge.

This is the link for download the Savoia Marchetti SM79 3view draw

http://santynus.files-upload.com/414372/SM79-draw.zip.html

Every one will get sample of this drawings and it is in order to keep it for color artwork only!!! Please do not to forward this drawings to any else [even from this forum] or publish it anywhere!!! Profile you made is your property and you can use anywhere you want.

It is not important how you will make color artwork. Goal is to be made in the 2D digital way but no problem to make it in oil or acrylic painting if you prefer.

Working size - in your PC you always work in the publishing size. This mean A3 or A4 form, 300 DPI. Here is presented in the web size, this mean 72 DPI 800 pixel wide just for the BBCode linked images

Good Work  :-tri

Holy Toledo!

What a great posting.  I am vry much interested in Italian aviation.  I have never seen anything better anywhere on the Spaviero.

Would anyone out there have any knowledge of at least one SM 79 fitted with 2 DB 601 engines and a clear nose.  It supposedly was quite a performer.

I saw paratroops being loaded ona 79.  I understand they were used in the Balkans against Chetniks and Partisans.   Were they used elsewhere?

Hi Leo  :)  the SM79 with two in line wather cooler engine is one special version for the rumenian air force but not used DB601 but Jumo 211.

I take some info for you directly from In Action 71 Savoia Marchetti S79 I hope can be help you   ;)

Gentlemen:
First of all, thanks for the correction about the DB601 engines.  Old age has muddled my memory.  Of course it should have been Junker Jumo 211 @ 1220 HP each.

The display of images for all versions of the Spaviero are magnificent.

I can't believe that the SM 79 lost out in a competition with the American Martin Bomber.  Until the advent of the Baltimore in British service, their performance was poor.  Was the fix in?

Hello everybody

Long time without posting anything due to work load, any way my S79 is progressing at a slow pace and presently facing a problem related with Italian camouflage  :-red

My idea is to reproduce Buscaglia's aircraft belonging to Squadriglia 281 in May 1941,see the following link were you can find an article
about it

http://www.stormomagazine.com/Articles/BuscagliaSM79/BuscagliaSM79II.html

In the above mentioned article and If I understood correctly in May 41 the aircraft was seen with 2 colours for the upper surface

Marrone Mimetico 53193 (as a base colour, my thinking)
and Verde Mimetico 53192

I have seen in other sites, specially in modelling devoted ones, the use of a colour between the Bruno Mimetico and Giallo Mimetico 3

But to be honest I have seen so many browns that presently I'm a bit confused, what brown shall I use? can you help me on this?
