Excellent work! This was one of the three Buccaneer S.2B's used as general test aircraft by the R.A.E. They did not have the enlarged bomb bay with a fuel tank of the standard R.A.F. S.2B.
-
Thank you Nico for kind words and additional data :) :-ok
-
Excellent colours on the S.2 No.1. I use to watch the Buccaneers taking off when I was stationed in Germany.
-
Thank you mate, I like to hear your personal info about this plane. I hope I will do two more profiles today and would like to hear your comments ;)

At the time I was on II(AC) Sqn at RAF Laarbruch, our squadron was flying the Jaguar in the recce role with Nos.15 (known as XV) and 16 squadrons flying the Buccaneer. It was during my time that the Buccaneer was retired from the two squadrons and they went on to receive the Tornado GR.1

Laarbruch was not far from the East German border and for this reason two Buccaneers were on 24 hours alert armed with a WE.177A tactical nuclear bomb. They could be airborne within 15 minutes. It still was the Cold War!!
