Wright-Martin two-seater flying boat Type "R" was designed for reconnaissance purposes, 1916-1919.
In the summer of 1915 it was decided after a short investigation to purchase a number of aircraft. In mid-1917 they arrived in parts and were set up at Schellingwoude. From October 1917 they went to De Mok and the aircraft were used as scouts. The Marine Aviation Service had two aircraft in use, the H1 and the H2. Here the H1 at the Mok airport.
