It's the Fairchild XBQ-3. It was an AT-21 crew trainer converted as a radio-controlled flying bomb.
Three were built.

This is how that 'motor-gun' looked like!
It is a page from the book 'Fokker aicraft armament' by G. de Vries and B.J. Martens.
Eventually it was never mass-produced!

Book has 326 pages and 58 photos. Interesting to see that the US and Dutch edition do not have all the same pictures!
One of the most interesting shots is the one of the Fokker 'motor-gun' with 12 rotating barrels based on the 19th century Gatling gun! Although patent was applied for, it never was a techical success!

Found this at a 2nd hand bookshop: a perfect copy of Fokker's biography DE VLIEGENDE HOLLANDER published in 1931.
I already had the original American edition 'Flying Dutchman -The life of Anthony Fokker' and it is interesting to see that the Dutch book is far from a 1:1 translation of the original English text!

This is what BMW means for me!
I owned this bike (A 900 cc BMW R90S) for some years in the seventies and it was a real mean machine.
It costed me the most expensive ticket for speeding I ever had (I was clocked at 192 km/h by the police!)

NO, it's NOT a model in the kitchen! In fact it is an original company release photograph!
Plane will be subject of a website article!

I found some time ago a similar handbook on the FW-190 in English from an obscure I believe US publisher.
Maybe there are more English translated editions on other types! Just ask No.1 for details on that FW-190 book; he is now the proud owner!

Impressive!
These shots remind me of our US motorcycle vacation in 2002. When we had crossed Death Valley we entered the shooting range and flight training area near Nelis AFB. One F-18 jockey discovered our group of motorcycles and gave us an 100% private airshow with some impressive aerobatics and he said us goodbye with a very low zoom flight. Not everybody of our group could appreciate this, but that F-18 pilot really had made MY day!

Combat Warplanes / Halberstadt
« on: January 12, 2008, 11:25:32 AM »
I found this photo many years ago during an aviation fair. It shows a Halberstadt C.V (at least that is written on the reverse side!) with apparently the observer/board gunner in a big hole in the fuselage.
There must be an interesting story behind this shot, but I do not know this. I think it could be a result of a mid-air collision rather than battle damage!
Anyone out there who can give more information? The photo is from the late Peter Grosz collection and I have also scanned the reverse side. The pencil writing could read: 'Fldw. Rosengard, Abt. III' not sure!

Assume you know that polyacrylate glue will make the transparant canopy opaque!
I always use woodglue!
These resin kits mostly have detailed 3-view drawings and I really would like to see this on the forum!
Nice to see such a quite old kit turn into a model!!

Here is mine's.
Don't know for certain which type it exactly is!
Just to give you a hint: it is -most likely- French!
