Messershmitt Werke, isn't it? For sure, great seeing your work!!

Yes, No.1........it took me 2 hours place little by little every template when I painted brown tone.....

I can tell you that time I enjoyed a lot, all was very nice, all was peaceful at home, listening good music.........all was synchonized... :) :-ok
But, please don't ask my body how was next morning........ouch!!

First, how I place templates on surfaces........

As the same way, I cut off templates from paper sheet with a sharpy knife....

Then, I use Tamiya's 6mm masking tape to make a little curls to add them on back side. Place them is an easy task, because I can align it using lines from model and drawlines...... ;)

It seems a jigsaw for kids.........

On this point I made a mix more diluted and more shiny than first one......Why? I have in mind getting a faded effect on French colors than Italian's. Brown reddish colors suffered more "wear" from Sun light.
Dilution ratio: 30:20:70 parts, Pressure: 25 PSI

I applied shadows on panel lines and covers, then I filled out rest of surface with a thin coat (using light color applied before)

Cockpit frame, too.....

Just one more.........Vert, next to paint.......then, all masks.......off

Dear mates,

More from my bench...........

I have been busy to take time posting, some of you may be have seen a quick update on Facebook. Well, now step by step continues here.........

Something that really thank to Mr. Tamiya's people is to include a sheet with camo pattern on scale. So, I just get photocopies to make my mask templates. I modified fuselage sides as appear in Tamiya sheet to complete version that I want to get....

So, I drew new lines..............

Then, I cut off with a sharpy knife........

Place them with some "curl masking tape" on back side (I forgot to take some shots in this point  :-red, but I did it later )

Finally, I masked wing's leading edge, oil radiator sides.........

Now, it is ready for Dark Blue Gray........I mixed Model Master color and I added some gloss clear varnish to reduce flat finish, doing it a little satin finish (Dilution ratio 40:5:60, paint:clear:thinner) Pressure: 30psi

Thin coats were applied little by little......

To control sprayed effect on edges, I airbushed taking care about angle about model surface. If it is sprayed at 30PSI and 90° to 45° (I mean, from top to the paper mask), you can get an "edge" more outlined and not blur.

Then, as soon as I finished, I add a drop of white to get a lighter tone on aleirons surface (canvas). So, I masked and paint........

One color more on pallete, small square is lighted tone on aleirons......

One of three colors on top surface was applied, I go for second one: Red Brown (Ombre Calcienne,)....

Scott,

A pleasure seeing your work. As soon as I finish my Dewoitine, I'll re-take my Bf-109V-4 and -C (Classic Airframes and Hobbycraft). I have been with many things to do daily, and I just have seen forum post, not no have time to reply.

I hope I see them finish!!

Well, I was far away from my bench last week....Now, I can continue with my D.520..........

I masked Savoy Cross on the rudder, helping me with an etched angle to make 90º cut..........

Once I finished, I masked wings and fuselage bands....I used 1.25 masking tape strips to handle it easier on fuselage band (getting straight line)....

Taking care about wing bands, flaps have a visual effect.......they look like with diagonal strips vs. straight. I place them on neutral position to masked them......

Before painting Grigio Azurro Chiaro 1 (Light Sea Gray FS36307) on cowling and rudder to cover Vichy's strips, I did a little experiment, lightened with white to make a slighty tone on movable rudder. Also, I added a few drops of Clear varnish to get a satin finish.....

Left: Light tone, Right: Straight from the paint bottle.

After airbrush and mask off process......

Then, more masking tape....... :-help

More post-shade....... :-blah

For chipping, I decided to use "salt technique" in order to see some yellow and red spots mixed with aluminium chips......

Grigio Azzuro Chiaro 1 applied.........

Drying time: 48hrs..........

Ready for French Light Blue Gray underside color........
One of those curious things on this hobby, I can not get a Model Master's color for undersides, but I had and found an Aeromaster's bottle jar on my paint stock after 18 years awaiting for being use it. Well, very good quality!! No problems painting it

To apply thin and light coats, I diluted it 40:60 (Paint:Thinner) @ 30 PSI..............

Color test to check base colors applied, when I start weathering process.........

I give it 48 hours for drying, then I will paint Dk. Blue Gray => Chesnut => Khaki. All from Model Master.......

More...........coming soon......

Hi mate,

Very nice. One of four finished, great!! Curiously, Buchon's streamline is rare for me, it brokes original cowling shape. But it is interested for me at the same time....................
I like what you do!! I can't wait for seeing 3 last....... :-ok
