Hi everybody!
Here is my recent effort, a SMER’s 1/50 Savoia Marchetti SM79, kit. Partially bad fit, but nothing that’s impossible to be assembled and improved. The best thing on this kit, in my opinion, is well materialized shape of the real plane, better than in more modern and detailed kits. The disadvantage is empty interior and lack of details.
Panel lines are re-scribed, where needed, interior (frame, instruments and wheel bay) is hand made from cardboard, painted and detailed by brush and pencils. The rear gunner is a former pilot figure from Airfix‘s Spitfire V. With some surgery and putty, he is “qualified” for radio-operator and gunner.
The side window is open by knife, outlined with a silver line. All surfaces are brush painted, including mottling. Panel lines are enhanced with pencil.
The model represents a plane from Royal Yugoslav Air Force, April war 1941. Yugoslav Savoias were used only as bombers, never as torpedo-bombers.
This kit building took me about hundred hours of work.
Best regards,
Goran
