On Saturday this Dart received a coat of clear gloss. Sunday morning, over coffee, I decided to add the decals and all went on in the normal manner. Last night I decided the decals had set long enough that I could apply some clear over them.......this was a mistake! The fuselage roundels simply wrinkled up and fell apart. I can't be sure why, since they are Microscale and I've used this sheet twice before on the other F-106 builds. Whatever the reason, I stripped these off and used some old Revell insignia in the spares kit. After clear coat the seats and rear instrument panel went in and more assembly is just around the corner.

Thanks!

Here's the next couple of parts added. The radar instrument in the rear canopy mount goes in with a plastic and a photoetch part and fits just fine. On the cockpit itself the fold-up panel and canopy actuator fit well and in the second photo it's all sitting together. Trumpeter also sends optional parts to represent the canopy closed if you wish.

Thanks, and this build is almost completely out-of-the box. So far all I have added was some wiring on the rear instrument panel that is quite visible with canopy open. Eventually I will build one of these for myself and go fully into detailing the "between cockpit" area. For my customer the extra wiring is sufficient.

This one is slowly moving into final assembly stage with the addition of the landing gear, weapons bay doors and Genie in the rear bay:

The four missiles have also been affixed to the launch rails and support hangars. These will be last to install just to keep from damaging them while handling the model:

Thanks, mate!

This is just a pleasure to assemble and begs for some extra superdetailing. I'm more and more excited to build one for myself soon!
