A long time ago in one magazine I stumbled in this airplane. It was an Serbian build sport aircraft, constructed by a Russian constructor V. Nestorov on demand of industrialist Svetozar Vlajković to promote his factory which was aircraft engine repair shop and aircraft parts manufacturer. The aircraft was constructed in 1926 and had it maiden flight in 1927. It was a small aircraft with only 6 meters wing span and 4.3 meters long fuselage.
To honor the aircraft pioneers of all around the world in my own way I desided to make this aircraft in " old school " scratch-build technique, so no computer, laser cuts etc but only paper, pencil, base materials, modeling knife and lot of sanding.......
As a first step I scaled down the original drawing from the magazine, transfered on to styrene sheet and the fun and games can begin.
First the fuselage :

Great project! :-ok
-
Way to go!!!
-
Scratchbuilding can be so fun!! Great to watch your project!
-
Maybe you need some details :-cool :-wave
-
Thank you all !
WOW these pictures are more than I ever dreamed of thank you a lot No.1
-
:))

The process is slow, very slow but I'm having fun....
After joining the sides of the fuselage I made the top surfaces of the fuselage, well it wouldn't go smooth, especially around the cockpit, lots of putty and sanding will be needed to get this straight.....
-
Courageous...
...And fine work!
-
The work continues on the fuselage, the start of the nose section
-
Looks good!
-
Agree, excellent and it's taking shape quickly!
-
Thank you all !
Here is some progress, the nose is roughly done, now it has the shape only fine work remains
-
Well done!
-
Pleasant Sunday pre-lunch activity :-wave
-
:-tri :-razz :-love :-clap :-clap
-
It's taking shape!
-
While the fuselage is getting sanded and adding putty where needed the propeller blade has been made. A few layers of different colored wood, lot of sanding and shaping......
-
Great craftswork :-ok
-
Splendid! :-ok
-
Thank you !

Now the wing. First I made a "sandwich " from different thick styrene sheet. As a next step I made a cardboard pattern of the wing ending and draw it on styrene and cut it on shape. After shaping the wing ends in thickness I draw the fins on the wing and with the help of medicine cutter I shaped the canvas texture of the wing. For final step at this stage the leading edge of the wing is corrected with putty. Still lot of work on this one but I'm getting there slowly.......
-
Stunning work... Waouw... :-ok
-
:-eek :-obey :-clap
-
Thank you all !
While the fine work on fuselage and wing are made I spend the spare time with making the vertical tail surfaces
-
Excellent work, my friend!!
-
Splendid!
-
Thank you my friends !
The fuselage is finally in pre-Surfacer shape. As seen on the photos the areas around the cockpit an engine is from metal and its a bit leveled up from the rest of the fuselage. i made theese elements from a thin brass plate, to make " positive " rivets I made the on the backside of each plate and when glued to surface it give a nice effect of rivets standing out from the surface.

Work with metal can be real art ;)
-
:-ok
-
Very good!
-
Thank you all for your kind words !
The struts are made, material is 1,5 mm evergreen styrene, first cuted on basic shape and then shaped wit sand paper.
-
Very nice and fine work!
-
Thank you !
Work on landing gear has started, first I wanted to use some wheels I found in my spare part box but I wasn't satisfied with it, and decided to make new ones from scratch. As a first step a tool for proper spoke layout had to be made, as next only wheels are made without the tires, they will come later as soon as the wheels are in desired look. The basic landing gear parts are also started to be made.
-
Wheel work, master work as seen in Windsock magazines ;)
-
Great stuff, mate!
-
Your work is inspiring; well done!
-
Thank you all for your kind words !
This project stalled a bit, progress is a bit too slow, but that's it..... Work on the wheels continued, first shaped them, draw the places for spokes...... To be contnued :)
-
For projects as this one need good mood and inspiration so it is fine to stop from time to time ;)
-
Waouw... Great work!
