Spad XII 1/72
«
on:

Spad XII is as i know first world fighter with central armament configuration. It have 37 mm cannon through engine shaft and one standard machine gun atop the engine cowling. So all of this present for me real challenge and I have some time ago start build "Pegasus" 1/72 scale kit of this airplane. Images are in attach

Was that 37 mm gun ever used successfully in air combat? I would think it would be great for anti troop use. How was it reloaded and how many, if any, reloads were aboard?

It was not easy to operate and it was briefly used only by top fighter ace. Rene Fonk made some scores with this gun. Also there was vibration problem caused by engine as well smoke which fill the cockpit after fire. reload was done manually.

New colors painted on kit. Actually this is the same as previous but without metal pigment inside. In this camouflage French used metal pigments in the color which was covering the fabric surfaces. Interesting to see difference among the same color in two version.
