Primer is not necessary (see the Schuckert) but  you can apply Rub 'n Buff above paint, like for this Mirage...

Well, having insomnia I worked that night: Masking phase again; then Tamiya XF-61. Masks were removed, details (like position lights, antennas) were handbrushed, then Vallejo gloss varnish
