Macchi C.202
« on: December 27, 2019, 06:12:35 PM »
Oh, well......

This year was bad and hard to me, and it reflected on my modeling as well, started a few hard projects and didn't finish ONE model this year..... But I try to change that ! So I pick up a model from my stash and I will try to finish it this year, I don't know can I manage this but I will try.... so the kit is Eduard's Macchi 202 Folgore, I got Brassin exhaust, Brassin wheel bay, SBS cockpit, Aires contol surfaces and Kagero book..... Thanks to the book the first stage is rivet counting

The cockpit. It's a combination of SBS and Eduard and some scratch work and of course some brass wire. As you can see the Eduard's PE instrument panel don't fit totally to SBS resin part so the resin will be reduce to the PE size. The trim wheel given by SBS is PE so its flat like an pancake, Eduard suggest to use the one Hasegawa give in the box, but I didn't like any of them so I made a ring of the wheel from brass wire and center part is combination of Eduard and SBS. After testing the fitting I had to realise that it's almoust inviseble on the end, but I know it's there and looks as it should.....

Thank you !

Just for fun of it I cutted the tail section, I like to do this on my models, it puts a little '' life '' in it, not too much of an extra work well worth it

Thank you !

The Brassin wheel bay, since I work fast for my standards I failed to take photos of done section but you will be able to see it installed.... I was amazed by the detailing of this Brassin product, it replicates the '' jungle '' of pipes, hoses and cables as on the real thing. It needs a lot of attention building it and have to be build step by step as the build manual recommends, if you follow this the done wheel bay is fascinating, I can say this was the best after market product I ever worked with. This time I used the PE cables didn't brass wire it, I will make them round on later stage of the build.

Happy New Year to you all !

Glad you like it friends !

Well I failed to finish this model in 2019 but I didn't give it up and want to finish it as soon as possible. Tail riveted, main parts all together, next step putty and sanding
