Greetings all,
here is my fresh start, German fighter aircraft Fw190D. This sample is special in having adopted Ta 152 style vertical surfaces so it have really unique look. Not much machines is known to have this feature. Kit I use is Eduard release from few months ago.
First step was making assembly sections of cockpit elements and engine compartment. They are all painted in Vallejo black primer (my first wide use of this product).

Hmm.....I just found a D-9 Weekend Edition on sale here in the States. I should have it next week so I'll be watching your build with great interest!
-
Pics are not the best, but i can see some details, and it looks good! Engine is soooo detailed! :-eek
-
I have the Italeri(Dragon) 1:48 ones, but I got a D-12 tail and some engine details in resin from the USA. I'm looking forward to seeing how the kit goes together, the late 190D versions have some fascinating colour schemes. Good luck with the kit!

Will remain posted... ;)
-
Tomorrow will join fuselage, all sections inside are completed.
-
Very good job! I like it! :-clap :-clap
-
Splendid!!!
-
Fuselage merged :))
-
Fuselage and wings assembled and all join line cover with liquid filler
-
Have there been any difficulties with the build? Looks pretty good though, have been watching this thread with great interest.
-
Yes, there is very important to set up properly firewall, from its angle and correct position depend all further assembly
-
I imagine that the engineering of the kit is such that you must follow the instructions exactly, like the Accurate Minatures kits?
-
For now, your progress is great. :-clap
There is no doubt that the future will be like this. ;)
-
Looks nice!
-
Thank you ;) Little update
-
Very good! :-clap
-
Lnading gear on...
-
It's really a beautiful kit!!!
-
It is nice kit, you are right ;)
-
Fast and great work,as always! :-clap
-
Thank you mate. Well, it could be regularly even faster but I have other things to do. So this kit could be even painted today but as well I will not be able to do any modeling today, it is hard to estimate this before next day. Images show small parts fitting.
-
I'm enchanted by this kit...
-
Eduard really did marvelous job with this kit :-ok
-
True- the same pipe and linkage system is masterpiece of the design work and as well it is clearly visible from bottom, it must be made. Hope that similar could be seen also in 1/72 scale

I love when producer like here, devote much attention to the details. ;) :-flo

Watching the progress here is making me impatient to get the D-9 I ordered! Oh, the temptations of reading LLL!!! :-help :-cool :)
-
Thank you for your kind words :-razz I make missing details in cockpit and if nothing stop me I will paint this tomorrow :-tri
-
:-ok
-
I have start with painting ;)
-
Excellent! :-clap
-
Camouflage paintings completed ;)
-
Is this green freehand or not? :-think
-
Freehand ;)
-
Coming along nicely.
-
My D-9 arrived this morning and it is really mouth-watering. I wish I didn't have all these other projects in work because I'd like to start this! I've even gone through my spare decals (I bought the Weekend Edition kit) and sourced what I need for the ship I want to build.
-
Well done...
-
Here I am :))
-
Will you post some more pics of finished Dora? :-think
-
Nicely assembled, although some visible mistakes could be corrected...
-
Mistakes?
-
Nice bird!!!
-
hmmm... to be honest, maybe I made a mistake - black dot on the rear fuselage is not an overspray of black band? I see now it's same on both sides... :-think
-
Lifting point, one on each side and on image black band goes direct over it.
-
Great work there, doing the kit justice. Nice.
-
Thank you :) Kit is now in glass case ;)
-
Great work, and a smooth finish. Job done :)
-
Great model! :-clap
-
I am thank you very much :))
-
I was waiting for pics of finished model. Very good job! :-clap :-clap
-
Excellent result, No.1!
One question--how well did the corkscrew swirl decal lay down on the spinner? If it's easier I may mask and paint mine rather than use the decal.
-
Spiral come as decal and it lay down perfectly, just take care when you apply, take correct angle, start from bottom, use much water to wet surface and no problem at all. When make it with paint I make border path with thin strip of self adhesive tape and then cover the rest with wider strips of tape.
-
Very good--I'll make use of the supplied decal!

Thanks :)

:-tri CanĀ“t resist till tonight!!!! great job dude!!!! I loved this dora!!!! The finish is outstanding and flawless

I'm going to tack on this small "review" to No.1's thread since it's related to his excellent build.
Recently I received several products from Scale Aircraft Conversions for review in LLL Magazine #4. One of the gear sets was for the Fw-190. I started my D-9 today and built up this gear leg so y'all could see what it looks like. I polished the white-metal strut and painted the balance with RLM 02 and installed the scissor link. It's a nice looking gear set and will be a good upgrade, especially for some of the older kits on the market.

You start your Dora!!! Great mate!!
-
Yes, but I had a splitting headache when I started working on it. :-wall :-wall I managed to assemble the wing and engine accessory section but didn't even try to align the gunbay/motor mount/firewall because I wasn't going to be able to concentrate. :-roll I'll go back to this one later, when my mind is clear!
I'm VERY impressed with the engineering that went into this kit. The landing gear bays are beautiful in themselves.
