I'm not sure about mine--the weather is supposed to become very COLD tonight and it may shut down my spray booth!

I decided to try painting the second color regardless of the temperature in the garage, which was about -1C when I started. The paint actually went on quite nicely, better than I had thought it would. Drying, on the other hand, meant a trip into the house where it was warm between coats!

The multiple coats brings up an issue I have--the new formula for Testors MM paints isn't nearly as nice as the old. This new stuff requires multiple light coats rather than being able to spray on one coat as with the old formula. It still works, but isn't nearly as convenient as the original MM. Hand brushing is also much, much more difficult with the new. I reckon they changed the formula for environmental reasons.

This look so nice for now. What MM colors you are using, enamels?

Yes, enamels. The dark green is RLM 82 and the olive-drab is a special mix of FS 30118 with a bit of desert tan to make it a little lighter and browner. The blue is RLM 76 darkened just a tiny bit. I haven't tried the MM acrylics yet as our hobby store has much better selection of the enamels.

Thanks, y'all.

The exhaust is in three shades of Testors Metalizer. The front band is Magnesium, the next is Aluminum, and the little band that gets stained right at the opening is Exhaust.

Looks really good Scott! When you add the decals they should add just enough color to make the aircraft come to life, I think it is going to look very good :-ok

Clear gloss is now curing on mine and the stencilling can begin........ :-eek There are a LOT of them!!!!! This is another wonderful feature of the Eduard kit, the instruction sheet has two pages of stencil location info and the decal sheet is awesome. Lots of work, though!

That is the truth! :-eek

A number of years ago there was an IL-78 parked at an airport in Texas and we did a full walkaround. The number of stencils on this huge bird was ASTOUNDING! But, then again, the USAF had loads of stencils on the 1950s NMF airplanes that often get left off of decal sheets.

My sample is completely camouflaged, now just few details around exhaust and next day will be gloss for decals.
