That is looking very nice, No.1! I especially like the fit you obtained with the side cowlings.

I've decided I liked doing the first one so much that the trainer should be started:

The -7V has a small bit more cockpit detail than the -9 has, including the nice structural basket as separate parts. One helpful hint for anyone building the fixed-gear trainer--install the landing gear well covers before you glue the upper wing panels on. I didn't do this and it is making the fitment of the covers a little bit more difficult.

Also, for lack of a better place to put this build, here is my LTD LaGG-3 under construction:

This kit isn't very high-tech but I still think it will be a nice display model with some extra work. It's typical of the short-run LTD kits, and since I have sucessfully built two other kits from this manufacturer, I decided to attack this one now. :-bat

I changed the thread title again to add the LaGG. I reckon I should be accurate with the title, eh? ;)

Indeed!

That monster 45MM cannon really is a distinctive feature!  :-eek

Here's a little progress on the two-seater. Notice in the underside photo that ICM includes the landing gear well covers for my fixed gear version. These fit very tightly after a tiny bit of sanding around the edges:
