« on: August 07, 2010, 10:21:28 AM »
Greetings all,

I start this topic in order to collect here all available info about the all kits as well after-market products for this plane. First to display here is Tom Modelworks two photo etched sets for the Hellcat kit in 1/350 and 1/700 kits. Another one present latest Eduard photo etched set for the 1/48 kit.

As well I have no every kit or even info about this, I would like to ask you to add all info and images you have.

Cheers  :-flo

Japanese company OTAKI, later to be renamed as ARII, had a very nice 1/48 scale model kit of the Hellcat! If still available, it must be some 20-25 years old by now!!
Unfortunately I don't have box artwork any longer.

Here is one of the old Otaki Hellcats that I built in the 1980s. I dug it out of the storage area and cleaned it up a little, but it's been hidden away for many years.

As I recall, the fit was good on all the parts but the cockpit was pretty basic. I seem to remember replacing the engine with one from a Monogram P-61 but I could be incorrect there. I built a number of Otaki Corsairs and substituted the Monogram engine with modifications in those models--I may be confusing the two.

Thanks for mentioning that kit, Nico. It gave me a chance to dig mine out of the shed and clean it up a bit!

Adding to the list, all in 1/72:
  Italeri's F6F-3/5N
  Tamiya F6F-3
  Frog F6F-3
  Revell F6F-5
  Airfix F6F-3/5
As far as I know, Academy and Tamiya are the best choice...

Eduard photo-etched parts: SS125 and SS220 for ACA, 72216 for HAS/ACA, 72045 for HAS

Profa as far as I know Italeri and Tamiya in 1/72 are actually the same kit.
Srecko, don't forget about Eduard kits in 1/48 scale, Eduard acctually announced Hellcat in 1/72 scale
http://www.eduard.cz/newsletter/i2010-01.php

So, besides the MiG, we have another quarter scale job in the works, namely the Bf 109E, and two kits in 1/72nd, which are the Hellcat and Avia B-534. All of them are expected late this year.

Eduard PE sets in 1/48

Furthermore Hasegawa has Hellcat kits in 1/48 scale also, Airfix released Hellcat in 1/48 scale but it was Arii/Otaki kit
