To be honest, it the last time I was modeling a tough projects, one is still " on " ( Saint George ) so I decided to make some relax project in between, to get my head clear a bit. So the choice went on this excellent Tamiya kit in 1/48, but as always with a bit update. So here are the " elements " of this one

Tamiya had a great idea, the base of the cockpit is from shaped metal, the plastic parts fits in, so the nose weight problem is solved. Like the idea, should be used more often. However the fitting is not the best and some pin marks are visible on the fuselage in the cockpit area. I'm not 100% sure what will be visible after completing the cockpit so the critical areas had to be treated with putty, just in case, which reminded me to some words of the great song from Toy Dolls - My wife is a psychopath : " I smashed her face, just in case, 'cause I hate violence... " :-green :-green :-green

Here are some pictures of the progress :

Excellent music background for the kit

Thank you friends !
Tamiya kit is excellent with details, but as I was doing some thinking I came to a conclusion that the paint job won't be so spectacular on " dots " areas on the top and a bit of the side, don't allow any shading, it would be lost, doesn't make any sense to do it. So the only option to take this kit to the next level and get out something more of it i making rivets. So I founded a rivet map and started to make rivets all around..... First measurement, then drawing the rivet lines with pencil and riveting on the end by using Z63 riveter in 1/48 scale ( this manufacturer makes three sizes of riveters 1/72,1/48 and 1/32, I'm using them many years now and I'm very satisfied with it ).On the pictures the upper fuselage half is still intact.

Final effect will be good for sure

Wonderful!

Hard work to do but you have excellent result mate

Some progress, the wings are riveted, the main wheel bay is mounted with adding Eduard's PE parts, but as always this is only the beginning, some scratch update and wires will follow.....
-
:-ok

:-ok
-
A bit of progress, fuselage parts glued, unfortunately a lot ( at least for Tamiya kits )of putty and sanding will be needed...... At the rear of the fuselage a kit part is removed for easier sanding and putty apply
-
Bulk of work just to get nose and bottom bow in order
-
You're on the right way anyway ;)
