If you've noticed, Scott, I've used putty to fill the hole and tried to make it recessed. It doesn't look right, though, so I'll try to fix it before painting begins...
You might check it on some pics here as well...
Regarding struts - it's a long way to Tipperrary, so to say. Since I do the paintbrushing, struts go on only after everything is painted...

Yesterday and today I was dealing with tiny PE guides for control cables (first few pics), then went to paint and build the engine - cables gave small headache, but nothing serious. Next was painting and weathering of the exhaust: after marvelous Vallejo Oil Steel I applied wet mixture of pigments. This is mat after drying, then hard brush was used to clean the excess material and burnish the rest on the plastic, so at the end there's just right metallic shine.
First two pics in this set show difference between mat and cleaned exhaust, and other two show dryfit of both engines...
