I am impressed with the kit structure, Monogram was among the best in this method of detailing ;)

I'll take a photo of the weapons bay and main gear wells tomorrow. There is a lot of detail molded into them and it doesn't take much work at all to have an accurate representation of the real thing. I very rarely add any ordnance to my models but I'm going to install all five missiles in this project as they are quite nice.

Here are two photos of the weapons bay and gear wells that show all the detail. All that is needed is paint.

The missiles need to be cleaned up and painted but I placed them in their launchers so y'all could see how they fit in there.

Finally, after a dropped/broken airbrush bottle yesterday :-wall :-wall, the ADC grey paint is applied. The next step will be the black nose and several flush antenna/radar panels on the belly.

I had to make a stop at the hobby shop on my way to work yesterday. I now have a couple of spare bottles!

Model Master FS 16473 "aircraft grey". It is the actual Air Defense Command color used on the F-106 through its life.

As an aside, somewhere in my piles of reference material I have the official Tech Order for USAF tropical (Vietnam-style) camouflage for the Dart. Supposedly there was a squadron of Darts slated to be rotated into S.E. Asia but it never happened. The F-102s looked quite nice in camouflage!

I usually get time to work on models only on Saturday and Sunday evenings. The weather was so nice yesterday and today I just had to paint the F-106. Now my lawn is getting scruffy looking and our garden (we're eating radishes from it already) is taking more time, but I'm still trying to fit some modeling in during my morning coffee!

The level of details in those wells is great - also you did a pretty good job in accentuating it :-ok
Speaking of colour, at first I thought I'm seeing bare plastics :-think not that I don't like it, and you did good job in painting it, it's just too dull for my taste :-roll

All I really did to the weapons bay and wheelwells was a light wash of dirty black and painted the various AN fittings and Adel clamps. About the only other enhancement was to drill out some holes in two air deflectors in the missile bay.

The ADC grey is just a little lighter than the kit plastic and it was almost hard to see where the first light dusting of paint was when I sprayed it! These overall grey Air Defense interceptors are pretty boring, indeed. It'll look a bit better with the markings applied but the 49th didn't have a "sexy" tail marking like a couple of the F-106 units had. Honestly, I'm thinking about building another one for my own collection but weathered and painted like the drones expended in Florida.
