Eduard Avia B-534 Serie III
« on: July 22, 2013, 04:56:24 AM »
It's time I finally start on this beautiful Weekend Edition B-534. A great kit this is, even without the etched parts!

First up was to open up the exhaust stacks. First they were drilled out and then the oval openings slowly filed on each fuselage half:

Yes, this is truly a breeze to build so far! Beautiful fit of all the parts. Even being a Weekend Edition kit this has much to offer! I have made more progress on this, fitting the radiator and housing, intake shutters and the assembled cockpit:

I made one modification on the radiator installation. I added a new styrene forward face and a spacer glued to the kit radiator part to make this thicker and further forward in the duct. Since this kit has no PE fret I used scale plastic screen that I have here to replicate the radiator faces. After installing all of the parts I realized that you can barely see the front of the radiator through the inlet! I also added the small oil cooler that sits just behind the inlet shutters by using styrene and a bit of the plastic screen. Once all the parts were positioned it was quite easy to glue the two halves of the fuselage together and dry-fit the lower wings:

As is typical with open cockpit airplanes, not much is visible through the opening!

This morning I made a fixture to get the correct dihedral of the lower wing, very important for fit of the upper. Simply I cut some foam blocks at the correct dimension (nice of Eduard to include the measurement in the instruction sheet!) and glued it together.
