I finally get this kit and this morning have observed parts. They are so many and they are good molds with nice details. This is review of Eduard re box of the original Academy kit so I will not take much attention on the quality of original parts. First to show is Eduard add to the product.
-
And original plastic parts inside ;) I just realized that I did not take image of the transparent parts... :-wall
-
The Eduard enhancements and decals look very nice!!
-
Thanks ;) I will start interior painting some later today :))
-
Cockpit preparation and work on rear instrument board
-
Nice new project!
-
Yes and a bit complicated ;)
-
What is complicated is the rear port cockpit console. It is show vertical but I could not find good images, I see just some parts and they show this in flat down position, this is switches panel. Any idea?
-
Assembly the remained cockpit parts and fit to the bottom plastic
-
Progress today, mostly on landing gear bay and all related to this, including wing assembly. Last step is painting air intake in white and engine arts in steel color.
-
More work on wing/fuselage assembly ;) A lot of parts but no matter of that, kit is real pleasure to do!
-
Looks great thus far! I've heard that the Academy kit is good, and this shows it.
-
Thank you :))
-
Looks impressive !
-
Yes, it is but have some failures. Will upload later some more images ;)
-
I need your help- did anybody have any close up of rear cockpit of B model?
-
I'll see if I have anything--my Phantom references are buried in storage.......
-
Dig the storage... :(
-
I found my Phantom book, but nothing of the cockpits at all. It is a very old Squadron "In Action". However, check this website: http://aviation.watergeek.eu/f4b-panel.html And this: http://www.ejectionsite.com/f4seat.htm
This one is of an RAF FGR2 but at least shows the sidewall..... http://cyberplasticmodeler.blogspot.com/2013/09/cockpit-walkaround-vol2-mcdonnell.html
Hopefully this helps with the panel and I'll keep looking for other rear seat items.
-
Thanks mate ;)
-
Some updates from yesterday...
-
More work today and kit finally stand on its leg. There is remained some of details to be add and this will be few hours job and then will focus on the ejection seats and equipment under the wings. In order to complete kit as on archive image I need to dig out my spare box and see if I have two Mk. 83 retarded bombs.
-
Work on small details and next to go is placing landing gear doors and work on seats
-
Excellent to see this update!
-
Now to buy new battery for camera and continue work. But as well we have shower outside, I will wait until more friendly conditions
-
nice work so far !
-
Now I start work on final cockpit elements and this is pilot seats. This is important as well after this complete, I will close cockpit and complete last details and prepare it for painting. This build take tooooo long and must complete it fast as well many more I need to finish.
-
Excellent work my friend!
-
Thanks ;) I am stuck in the moment, blur vision :(
-
Work on seats take a lot of time due to their complexity and next step is work with this fabric seat belts :-danger
-
Work on this seat is like work on entire smaller kit in 1/72
-
First seat completed :-bat
-
Well, personnally I prefer PE seatbelts that IMHO are more easy to use...
-
I agree, far easy to use
-
Beautiful seats, No.1!
The fabric belts are definitely harder to construct but I sort of like building them after doing a couple of sets. However, the etched ones are simple and the result is also great. It's good to have such products to choose from nowadays.
-
I agree and I like idea of fabric so I keep sheet where it was printed to cut stripes for any other seat belts.
-
the seat looks great
-
Complicated and great and finally I start painting.
-
:-ok
-
finally some color !
-
And more color :))
-
Small decals is on the run and they are soooo many!!!!
-
:-ok
-
All small decals as well national insignia done :-tri Now to relax few days and then to place unit markings and arrange bombs and missiles under fuselage.
-
Still work on paint details, this time vertical tail :)
-
Patience needed ;)
-
Yep, a lot of servicing stencils on these....... :-eek
-
My friend did it, I did not have time and he make this in two days
