So, I've bought that kit at very attractive price last week during the IPMS Belgium national expo...
I'm too tempted to begin it, so let's have some fun (I hope...)
The kit is from Mauve, with usual Eduard add-ons like resin parts and photoetch elements.
First work is to assemble some elements...
-
This sound interesting :))
-
I made this a few years ago, as I remember it's a good kit with only a few smaller " issues ", decals are atractive and user friendly. Nice start !
-
For the first time I've tried Mr Paint color... Those paints are ready to use, like Vallejo Air. No need to dilute. Useful...
So, Interior Green airbrushed with a Badger 150 at 1 bar. Result is very fine. Airbrush was then cleaned with Tamiya Airbrush cleaner.
Mr Color is a laquer. Better to use it with a mask and open window (at leats after the seance...).
I'm very satisfied... :-green

Looks very nice !

Thank you! ;)

Badger 150 :) Old good times ;)

Badger 150 :) Old good times ;)
I've bought that Badger for use with some special paints like AK Xtreme Metal and also with Vallejo paints...
-
Good idea, it look perfect for that task ;)

Hello :-salut
Good project for a rarely seen version of the P-40.
Jicéhem :-wave
-
Thank you my friend!
-
I'm trying new techniques with that build.
Using the Interior Green from Model Masters, I've lightened some structures to give more volume. Then with a lighter green I've realized some chipping. Here is the actual result...
-
Good!!! I like seat ;)
-
Thank you! ;)
-
This looks excellent!
-
Thank you Scott ;)
-
More details painted on the cockpit interior...
-
:-clap :-clap
-
;)
-
Hmm.... I must acquire one of these. Your work is inspiring, mate!
-
Thank you mate :)
-
well done my friend !
-
Thank you Modellius! ;)
-
Little work: the instrument panel. The film receives some colour touches other than white. The photoetched part (panel himself) is painted with Vallejo black paint and the reliefs are painted in a very dark grey (in this case: Panzer Aces Dark Rubber) to give more deepness. Finally with a hard pencil I represent some scratches.
-
Very good!
-
Result is top!
-
Thank you friends! ;)
-
Excellent mate !
-
Thank you :)
-
Pébéo gloss varnish; Tamiya panel liner; Pébéo matt varnish and finally use of pastels...
-
Just for fun, the seat: before and after :-green
-
And excellent result!
-
Thank you ;)
-
Some finitions for the cockpit.
I'm really happy with the instrument panel, result is looking great on my eyes.
For the cockpit floor and seat, I did not followed the instructions (gluing the ensemble against one of the half fuselage) because that was not easy to obtain a perfect result IMHO. I preferred to glue the ensemble on tne wings part...
-
...Then half fuselages and wings are assembled. Not easy at all with the cockpit floor and seat; it was a real sport comptetion. But finally it's OK.
Bot on the other hand I'm really disappointed with the fitting of the wings/fuselage! As in "Cyrano de Bergerac": it's not a gap, it's a cape, a mountain, a peninsula!!!"
Lot of work will be needed, especially for the right wing... :-think :-think :-think
OK, will do that but easy and slowly...
-
Filler factory will be grateful for this gap :))

Filler factory will be grateful for this gap :))
Sure! :))
Anyway, first step: to reduce the sales benefits of the filler factory (and essentially to avoid that the filler ruins the wheel bay), Evergreen. Then I've removed the excess of plastic with a cutter...
-
Your progress is excellent!
I wonder why almost all P-40/P-36 kits have this wing/fuselage fit problem.......my Ertl/AmTech kits and Hobbycraft all fit poorly in about the same place as your Mauve version, and I know they were from different molds!
-
Thank you Scott. I just hope that the new 1/48 Airfix P40 is better...
-
Yes, that one is highly anticipated......!
-
Well, the correction of the kit is on good way... :))
In the wheel bays, I will just have to paint the miliput and the Evergreen in Interior green...
-
Precise filling :)) I am a bit wild and cover wider area so make shape again ;) But too much work, your way is smarter :-ok
-
Thank you.
Of course I will also have to use putty on other surfaces of the kit...
-
Superb job mate !
-
Thank you!
After a long sanding session, result is good.
Of course I will have to rescribe some panel lines and also to use filler for other locations of the kit...
-
Good results indeed ! Keep up the good work mate !
-
Thank you! ;)
-
Mr Surfacer 1000
-
This will be smoooth as I see ;)
-
Looking good !
-
Thank you! :-green
