The decal test-mule is complete, representing a Bf 109D-1 assigned to training unit 3/JFS 2. The Skz decals are great and now I can begin another project!

I'll be here!

I'm thinking of starting the V-1 modifications fairly soon, probably in January.

This was found on ebay last week and I decided to make a bid. It came home at very low cost.

The kit was advertised as having been started by an accomplished modeler, and this was correct. When I unpacked the parts it was very evident that the first person to start this kit is very talented. The cockpit is finished very nicely with PE harnesses and the main assembly is quite clean. The canopy frames are very carefully masked (still in place) and painted. Also the gear and prop are already finished to a high standard:

My only regret is that I don't know who the builder was. In any event, I will finish this project for the first owner in a way that I hope he/she would be happy with!

I inspected the entire "pre-built" model tonight and found little wrong with it. The underside RLM 76 is exactly as the former owner sprayed it:

I only added two tiny areas of filler on the top seams and then sanded them. Next the pre-masked canopy parts were tacked on and the top surfaces are nearly ready for paint:

A paint scheme has been decided on and decals are being hunted for in the spares box. In theory, this could be finished tomorrow!

My paint scheme fell through as I was confusing an Erla G-10 with a WNF machine. So, I have now settled on a new scheme that will demand a little extra work. Not a great problem, though and it lets me build yet another variation. So, back into decal spares........

Okay, now I've finalized which airplane to do. So today I installed new tip and needle in the airbrush (both originals have been damaged by clumsy handling on my part over the years) and took up the challenge of fine mottling on the sides of this machine. The real airplane had a very dense mottle and this gave me an excellent chance to practice mottling with the rebuilt airbrush before I start on the Me 262.
