After your post I start to like Otaki kit. By the way- do you have technical drawings?

I've always liked the Otaki kits. They have drawbacks, such as fairly basic cockpits and the landing gear parts on some of them are not very detailed, but the fit of every one I've put together has been very nice. Now that I'm restoring the old builds I find them even nicer than I had remembered. The exterior detail is usually very delicate yet crisp.

I don't really have any of the super-serious technical drawings on the 109, just some references and the internet. It's amazing how heavily researched this particular airplane has been over the years and how much has been written about it from a technical viewpoint.

Oh, I also forgot to mention earlier that the Otaki kit has the umbrella holder fairings molded in for the Tropical variant. They had to come off for the example I'm building.

On top side of wings those squares painted in light gray... It is not real square. Some paint escaped, or it should be like that? :-think

Yes, paint escaped, I did not care at all. As well it is painted over I have make later some brush paint over and add some reality on kit and correct problems. Is it square I have no idea, I did not try to search images at all...

Good work! 109's have a visible seam on the rear fuselage anyway :)

For all the inherent faults, the model still looks good, and you never gave up on it :) I particularly like the faded finish. Well done!

Very nice finish and I really enjoy the Italian flavor. When we get back from holiday I hope to continue on a couple of my projects.

A tiny update of my Otaki Gustav. No.1 sent me some good information that helped me to open the radiator outlets on this one. On later builds I may get around to dropping the flaps also, but not on this kit. I also inserted the cockpit and joined the fuselage halves as you can see. I don't know how much time I can devote to this thread for the rest of the week, but I'll try.

Nice update mate :-ok Please note that I received some German insignia decals so if you miss anything just let me know (and good chance to make build a bit official)
