This has been on hold for five months--now it's time to continue! I was unable to complete this little gem without some new decals. I recently got around to ordering these great letters and numerals from Fantasy Printshop, in a smaller size than the first sheets I got last year:

Here is the finished Taifun, several months late for no reason except I didn't order the decals! This was a great little Eduard kit and was built straight from the box with no extras whatsoever. I really enjoyed it and will be building at least one Luftwaffe version in the future!

And it wouldn't be right if I didn't line up the Bf 108 with his later brother, the Eduard Bf 109. The family resemblance is strong!

Hi mates,

I'm sorry to write what is following but Eduard's Bf 108 B is very inaccurate in many respects... such as air intake of engine cowling front, too short fuselage, inaccurate hinge line on horizontal tailplane, swept leading edge of fin, wing tips, the missing "pleat" at the base of the fin on the fuselage top, etc. Eduard probably used the drawings from Close-Up that are not good.
I tried to build one with the markings of the Armée de l'air, modifying it into a Nord N-1000 "Pingouin" (Bf 108 D) and at the time of writing I have abandonned it for about one year because of the so many inaccuracies...  :-wall

Cheers,

Well... do you have any blueprint which can show real size and proportion of this kit? If I can ask this in private, please...

Something I noticed was that the aft part of the fuselage seems too "plump" or round on the sides. This was really evident when I was applying the registration markings and comparing them to the photos I have. Nevertheless, I enjoyed building it for a relaxing change!

I have some constructor photographs exactly taken from side and other which show the details I spoke of. It's sufficient to look at photographs to see the kit is very inaccurate.
Another detail : fuselage had no recessed line between panels because these "fuselage rings" were juxtaposed in such a manner that the metal sheet overlapped slightly the previous one and that against the direction of flight.

The difference with the Bf 109 (and Bf 110) :
