As you have seen in our topic about new acquisition, I get this one few months ago but due to many other things, I was not able to start it before. Sorry, I forget to take image of box, will do that tomorrow. This is very start and on very start I hurt my finger... :-wall :-dal
-
Little work on cockpit elements ;)
-
Is your finger OK?
Nice work anyway... ;)
-
Interesting subject and a great start
-
Thanks friends :) Yes, finger is operational now, I slice surface with grinder and very sharp tool inside
-
Work on seat belts
-
I work on interior and there is some problems. Main interior is look like RLM 66 and main problem could be radio unit which can be in the same color as well in Gerategrau (bluish version)
-
Here it is situation in the moment and I have problem to flat down decals over raised surface of instruments... :-wall
And there is one visitor ;)
-
Eventually try with an hair dryer... Not too short distance to avoid the parts to be deformed
-
I try something other- they lay down a bit then I penetrate film with razor blade and put more decal setting liquid. Wait few hours then releat and until now they lay down much but I will need more extra work to finalize that

It's also a good technique. More time spending, but will give excellent results.

Best solution is to use Superscale fluid for decals, ultimate one
-
Still work on cockpit, focus on seat belts :)
-
Strabge, I cannot see your photos this time...
-
Problems.....
-
Oh, this is excellent stuff, mate!
-
Thanks and here is progress from last night and more work will be done today ;)
-
Excellent!!! :-ok
-
Thank you :)
-
this looks amazing, great job mate !
-
Thank you :)) Work on HGW belts is completed and interesting detail is that one seat belt is fixed at floor, obviously to secure gunner when operate machine gun in standing position :-think
-
And this is for today :)
-
Very nice! I like your leather painting...
-
Thanks :)) Revell leather brown color
-
Thank you for the info!
-
Problem- it look like that central float samples have fuselage bottom in some coat, maybe anti fouling paint? Any suggestion?
-
No idea I'm afraid...:(
-
All right, thank for showing attention :-ok
-
By the way, now the wings are in work.

Hello,
Officially anti-fouling paint was only applied on treated bare metal surfaces below the level of the water. I don't know of something else.
Jicehem :-wave
-
Thanks. So I will improvise something...
-
Not sure if I'm right but if I remember correctly the dornier hydro planes were painted in some sord of black protecting paint on the under surfaces which were in contact with water.....
-
Yes, in early years, asphalt based paint and that was anti-corrosion coat. Problem is that black and red look the same on black and white images. Other thing is the wash out of the coat show about, specific way for anti fouling coats. They work in this way- sea plant attach for the surface and in this case anti fouling. As well this coat include poison, after some time plant die and fall but it also peel of some amount of coat. This is my doubts, what that could be? If this is anti fouling coat, that could be red brown color.
-
Well, damaged peeled of protecting paint maybe ?
-
No idea... :-wall :(
-
Problem is that black and red look the same on black and white images.
Hello :-salut
Renderings of red ans black are black only with orthochromatic films. With panchro ones red is a shade of grey (dark to mediem grey) but lighter than black.
I never heard of anti-fouling paint on surfaces above water and, more precisely, on fabrics. I understand that anti-fouling paint was necessary for surfaces below the water level because it's not esasy to clean them.

-
In this case, what is the coat present on image?
-
Maybe a kind of deterioreted transparent waterproof paint. But not black because the black letterings are legible on it...

As well it is so dark and match red on flag... red? Or some family of red? Anyway my friends, we make new reference as well nobody spot this and many samples were made of this kit with this markings! Congratulation, you are all the great! Subject is everything but easy!
-
Good progress here!
No.1, I have two photos here of early machines and I think the bottom of the fuselage is simply silver dope. I don't have access to send the photos to you right now but will do so later today. The photos are of D-IEHK, twin-float prototype and D-ILRE, single float prototype.
-
Please send me those images, will see what that could be.
-
I'm afraid these pictures are not of great use, and one may be the same as yours. However, I am pretty confident that the underside of the fuselage is silver when looking at the image in my book. The bottoms of the floats would likely have had anti-fouling paint on them as y'all have thought in earlier posts, so I would think that these would be asphaltic black.

Good images, help this subject :)
-
I'll try to get some better images of these later......some scanner problems here.......
-
No problem :)
-
I found a third photo of the twin-float prototype on a catapult. I notice that it has no anti-fouling paint at all on the float.....just silver.

Thank you friends, this is situation right now :))
