An-224 Mrija, Revell 1/144
« on: May 21, 2019, 11:20:07 AM »
There is various way how people start building, someone just pick kit from stash and star build, someone first look for list of missing material, someone check out technical database and I have first take a look where I will put this one!!! This is huge kit and still it is small scale, 1/144, just can imagine what this will be in any other larger scale. This is test sample so no box.

Mrija is legendary airplane, built for the Buran project many years ago and today is probably most busiest cargo plane on planet!! It is pleasant to see that Revell shoose it as subject for work. Kit details is excellent and for the first look, instructions is good. There is four options how this can be built, I choose the one with closed cargo nose and landing gear down.

Parts are more or less good shaped, only some need some extra work or finger pressure to set it perfect in place. For the first time ever I test Citadel surfacer and I am definitely impress with quality!!!

I've only seen this machine fly once, and I will never forget it! Watching the landing gear work reminds me of a centipede!!

So situation is as seen, most of the external large elements made but problem is that one part was not completely mold so it will need extra work. In this moment I close this hole with epoxy filler and tomorrow will be day for sanding this part, fill with another type of filler, sanding again and after all engraving some panels. I did not include front ring and fan on engines as well it will be more easy to paint it separately and put in position at very end.

Your repair on the engine cowl is somewhat like repairs we do on the real thing, only we only deal in small areas!!!!

Last assembly work done today and it get a coat of surfacer. Some additional surface polishing will be done before I start apply white paint.
