1/48 Tamiya Fw 190A-2

Here's another of my kits purchased at great discount. This one was missing the electric motor parts to drive the propeller and I didn't want that anyway, so everyone gains!

No in-progress photos since the camera was being repaired then, but this is typical Tamiya. The fit is beautiful with almost no filler used anywhere. I did replace the main gear wheels with resin replacements since the kit parts are quite undersized. Also I used the excellent Eduard cockpit PE set and this fit so nicely.

More pictures of the finished machine later.

Yes, extremely nice to build! The only extra thing needed was to cut a piece of sprue to spread the fuselage a little bit to make the wing-to-fuselage joint a little tighter. Other than that it was a simple pleasure to construct!

I selected one of the decal options from the Tamiya sheet for this one, a machine from the Stabschwarm of JG 26. A bit of controversy about the 71/02/65 camouflage scheme seems to exist. This seems to have been applied to very early Fw 190s and JG 26 sprayed some of their airplanes as it pleased the unit, so that's the colors I used. I've always wanted an early one in this scheme so here it is:
