As you'll remember, I reviewed the new Eduard fabric seat belt harness a few weeks ago here: http://www.letletlet-warplanes.com/forum/makete-aviona-aircraft-modeling/eduard-fabric-seat-harness-set-in-148/ . The cockpit I chose to mount the belts to was this Eduard Fw 190A-8 Weekend Edition that I was able to purchase at a good discount several months ago. So here is a brief thread on the build of the airframe.
This kit is actually a fighter version but most of the parts for the F-8 Jagdbomber are also included. The only parts I'll really lack are the four underwing bomb racks and these were not always installed at all times on the fighter-bombers. I have a really nice decal sheet for the F-8 and have wanted to build this for some time now.
The kit is typical Eduard quality, very nice molding and detail, and comes complete with the BMW 801 engine, cowl guns, and wing root weapons. The optional parts are very comprehensive, even to include the two different styles of cooling fans that go behind the propeller. Earlier variants used a twelve-blade fan and later ones a fourteen-blade unit, and both are included. You've already seen the cockpit on the seatbelt thread, so here are a couple of pictures of the project:

Small work being done on this one, just some preshading and the underside RLM 76.

It represents a late-war Fw 190F-8 in service with the Hungarian forces, one of my very favorite schemes for the 190. The decals are from HAD and I also have a set for a Bf 109 and Ju 87 still to build from the same sheet! :-tri This was a nice, relaxing build and gave me a chance to utilize the great seatbelt harness from Eduard. Now that I've built two Eduard Focke Wulfs I can envision doing more!!!

Look nice :) And decals is interesting :)

Very good job mate, and interesting markings! :-clap :-clap

Thanks, friends!
Toward the end of the war this machine had the entire tail painted yellow for identification purposes. I preferred to be able to add the national colors to the rudder so I built it as it was shortly after delivery.
Here is the entire decal sheet:

Scott,
Woow!! I would like having time to build a lot of models like you.!!
Great mate.

It's not that I have so much time to build, I simply don't do a very good job and build them fast! I took a very long hiatus from model building and I have truly enjoyed these builds since joining LLL. None of what I've built is competition-worthy but the building has been so relaxing for me!

I think I will simply add this next Fw 190 onto the old thread as it is exactly the same kit as the Hungarian one.
I've picked up this Accurate Miniatures re-boxing of the Eduard Fw 190A-8 for a bargain price. This is the same kit as a Weekend Edition version, with only one decal option and no PE parts. All Accurate Miniatures did was repackage it in their boxing. Incidentally, my kit came without decals (part of the reason it was so inexpensive) but I'm doing one of my own liking anyway. In fact, I'll be converting this to an F-8 fighter-bomber version. Really the only new item I'm trying here is the excellent Eduard wooden flap PE set that you've seen on it's own thread.

First part was to get the flap pieces sorted out and building the wing. Next I assembled the interior and fuselage, then joined it all together. That's where it is situated right now:

-
Even without PE parts and resin this is very detailed kit ;)
-
Model projects have slowed down here, but I've managed to fit the canopy parts. Then I sprayed the clear parts with RLM 66 for the interior color and finally started with priming and filling. Not much is needed on these Eduard Fw-190s!

Painting continues on the Jabo:

Next some mottling on fuselage sides.......

So fine work mate ;)

Today I sprayed the "former owner's" markings with a contrasting color, as on the real airplane:

I like this detail mate :-ok Free hand or you make template?
-
Here's how I did these overpainted numerals this time.....First I found some 2s in the decal box, then I copied them on the printer twice. On the real airplane they were probably brush-painted over and left a slightly irregular shape so I cut out the stencils a little sloppily also. Then I just found the right color of grey and sprayed them on:

Thanks, all!
Here is the final product. This model represents the F-8 being flown into "captivity" at the end of the war in Europe, seen on this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J16dt-KEIq0 This airplane is at 2:05. The unit assignment and pilot I do not know.......but it is an interesting machine. Also notice that the left induction "speed fairing" on the cowling has a substantial dent in it that I tried to replicate.

The kit was excellent, typical of Eduard quality (even though packaged as Accurate Miniatures).
