Title: MiG-1 and 3 book
Post by: No.1 on January 04, 2007, 09:32:14 PM
Greetings all :) I have just received a book from friend from Italy Massimo Tessitori and the same book is about the famous Soviet WW2 fighter MiG-1 and 3. Book is published by Mushroom Model Publication, see it at www.mmpbooks.biz and have 160 pages. Inside is very nice history, great number of color profiles, a lot of images and of course technical drawings. Size is B5 and book is very authoritative. I recommend it to any air enthusiast interesting in the subject and especially to the plastic modelers.

I have always thought that the MiG 1 & MiG3 were two of the best looking airplanes of WWII.  The design appears to be super clean.

Yes for sure and in the moment when the fastest German plane was under 600 km/h, they flew over 600 km/h. Problem was in maneuverability so after 1942 it was moved from the main fronts.

Soviet aviation in WWII has never been appreciated in the USA.  I am curiious about aero engines built in the USSR between 1941 and 1945.  They must have been pretty good if they were faster than Messerschmitt and Focke Wulf fighters.

It is also in the mentality of the Soviet fighter pilots. They are vigilante's in air and even Me262 have a problem to down it and there is one combat in Serbia between Soviet and US pilots where the US side get heavy punishment from Soviet no matter that US attack first and from height.
