My wife always asks me how I'm progressing with the model I make, or what did I manage to do for that day, and I always show her or tell her. Once she asked me - is there a model on this world which you can make out of the box like normal people ? I sad to her - maybe one, but I haven't got it yet.....

So, the tow cable, all the experienced Tiger and King Tiger crews put they tow cables in '' ready '' position so they wont waste time and expose them to enemy fire for a long time if towing is needed and this is what I wish to make on my model. Tow cable from the box :

I made the tow cable in 3 x 3 wire layout. First I take three wires and spin them in one, and then the three spined wires I spin in one

At first I wished to use some original parts but on the end, as usualy I ended up with all scratch tow cable....

The slow and painful weathering process started, I work with oil paints so the drying period between phases are a bit longer, but hey, can't have it all.....

For first step I usually use a lots of different colors to get a little " life " in the colors, I'm applying them in dots and then '' work them in to surface '' with brush and thinner. I use lots of colors, white, yellow, blue, green, etc and around the engine I'm adding burn umber to get a dirty grease oily look.

In the meantime the work on the tracks began, once again the pin marks are on '' perfect '' places......

And the next step is done, to get a worn out used look I put on a wash with burnt umber

And the weathering continued, as a next step I made a wash of many different colors, just to equalize the difference between camo colors

And to get a bit more life like look I made a few heavy weather, once again I used burnt umber lighter and white on the dark areas. All the weathering in these phases are only on non-zimmerit surfaces

In the meantime the wheels are on, hatches are opened and painted

And the exhaust is done and mounted.

First I painted the exhaust, the pipe got a layer of Humbrol 70 as a base for rust

Work on the tracks is very slow, but I hope I will finish it soon, in the mean time I founded a few photos on the internet, it was love at the first sight, the big cat belonged to the Pz.Abt. 506, painting included in the box, but this is a different turret number, 2+11 captured by us forces.

First I found the appropriate decals and it took me days to persuade them in to the place and to fit perfectly to the zimmerit. Gunze Mr  mark setter and Mr mark softer helped me a lot......
