What an aircraft!. When I saw it, I thought it was after, or at the end of WWII. For 1936 it is much ahead of it's time, I would dare to say. Am I wrong? :-think

I wonder if the G1 had any influence on either the FW 189 or the Lockheed P38? I tcertainly was an interesing design. Did any faall into German hands and used by them?

Leo,
Hi.
I think the Fokker G-1 was debut at the Paris air show in 1936 and predates the Fw189 and P-38. I do not know if they were influenced by it's design?
Certainly the Germans captured a number of G-1s in Holland in May 1940 and flew them in their evaluation units. I am unaware of any German G-1 being used in any form of operational activities.
Unfortunetly for the Fokker G-1 (and the Dutch) the war came about 6 months too early and the 30 or so G-1 that had been built were not even armed at the start of the war although a number were (in a few days only) and did succeed in shooting down a number of German aircraft.
A G-1 escaped to Britain after the Germans had over run Holland and it managed to evade the escort me-109 that it had whilst it was being test flown by 2 Dutch pilots.
As usual the story leads to a great 'what if?'. What if there were 30 armed G-1s at the start of the war? What if Spain, Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Finland had managed to buy them them as they had planned on doing?
