The arrival in the mailbox of TnT is always a great moment. This new TnT contains less articles than usual, but there are more detailed and take more pages. And, as always, interesting stuff only! Here are the articles you will find:

“Guerre asymétrique au Moyen-Orient: Pick-ups versus M1 Abrahms” (Asymetrical war in the Middle east: pick-ups against M1 Abrahms) – In Irak Daesh is using pick-ups in “blitzkrieg” mode against tanks that are more slower. Pick-ups are faster and ask for little support. There are terribly effective agains a demoralized Irakian army. The article take also a look on the use of armored vehicles in the 20^th century wars. That began as soon as in WWI. During WWII that kind of vehicle was also used and very effective in North Africa and after WWII during the Chad vs Lybia conflict in the seventies and during the Toyota wars in the eighties.

“Le char d’assaut Peugeot: l’échec d’une réussite” (The Peugeot tank: the unsuccess of a success) – During the time that the Renault tank was knowing youth problems, Peugeot decided to construct his own tank. Captain Etienne Oehmichem was engaged by Peugeot and helped to develop a light tank with 2 crewmen. But the unconditional support of the headquarter to Renault and the impossibility for Peugeot to produce his tank in big quantities gived the definitive advantage to the Renault tank.

“Les mythes de la Wehrmacht: entre fantasmes et réalité” (the myths about the Wehrmacht: fantasms and real facts) – The WWII German army originated lot of myths, mistakes of interpretations, false analysis due to “too modern” interpretations or simply fantasms. In those last ones you can find many issued from the Web. The article describes the myths generated by the reputation of the Wehrmacht: battle of the Bulge; the propaganda about PZ IX & X that never existed; turret myths; Schürzen and projectiles; Panzerfaust; Panther II; 80cm Kanone Eisenbahn; Panzerwaffe 1946; the presence of a Minnenraümer at Kursk; the bad denominations, the PZ VIII Maus.

“Panther Ausf. F: le panther parfait?” (Panther Ausf. F : the perfect Panther ?) – The Panther began its career at Kursk in 1943. The Panther is considerate as one of the best tanks of WWII, if not the best one. The german will often develop quickly a successor to the Panther but project is abandoned at the end of 1943. The Panther will then progressively evolve until the F version that would have been able to fight during the summer of 1945. The Germans estimated that the turret of the D. could not be ameliorated and then created a new one. There will also be a telemeter and a better armor. But the F is attended to be a transition before the arrival of the E50 equipped with a 8,8cm gun.

“Les half-tracks: l’aventure des semi-chenillés américains première partie” (Half-tracks: the adventure of American half-tracks part one) – Born in Rusiia from a French father, the half-track proved its effectiveness in the Russian steppe before to come back in France due to the Bolchevik revolution. Citroën decides to export the half-track and the Americans will benefit from the potential of that kind of vehicle creating a local version. There will be so many American half-tracks that the French origins of that AFV will be forgotten.
