MiG-21 by Balkan Models
Thanks to the very turbulent political history, Serbia and Yugoslavia has changed in its history a number of various national markings on its aircrafts so in some way it is very interesting for the aviation enthusiast. If we take a note that many various type of aircrafts were used, both from East and West, whole subject become more interesting and complex. To regret, not much of the manufacturers were ever put Yugoslav markings within their plastic kits. We are finally fortunate to get on market one decal manufacturer which bring to us decals of outstanding quality.
New decal manufacturer is Balkan Models and they have by now delivered two products, both are for the MiG-21 and in 1/72 scale. This decals sheet are BM-7201 for the MiG-21f and the second is BM-7202 for the later versions of the MiG-21. Products coming in plastic bag with decal sheet inside and instruction leaflet. Leaflets are in full color, crisp, easy to follow and informative. They are fill with full info of what kit to use, what colors to use and off course, how to apply decals on kit. In first sheet you have national insignia decals for the two aircrafts and serials for seven aircrafts. Second sheet include serials for five machines and national insignia for two kits. Second sheet is also interesting in having provided some very interesting temporary markings of MiG-21 on military exercise.
The same work on the decals can be credited as top, from the choice on the subject, correct colors and options provided. You have also stencils on this sheet but you can also use those which you get with basic plastic kit. Decals are placing on surface perfectly and they adopt to the surface greatly, you need no any decals setting solutions. Only small remarks- Yugoslav MiG-21 use two method of the placing of markings on wing, one is inclined and other is parallel. As well not much of info is ever placed in local publications about Yugoslav MiG-21 and provided info could be doubtful, you should take care about the markings position on wings. In two attached images you have samples for the inclined method of the wing markings.
No doubt that this is top products and it is greatly recommend to any modeler interesting in Yugoslav aviation. I hope also that there will be in close future more products from this manufacturer.
