SC 50 bomb
The SC50 bomb (Sprengbombe Cylindrisch 50) was general purpose bomb built by Germany during World War II. It was widely used bomb and from available info, it was 200mm diameter of main body and 55,5 kg weight. This bomb were used on many types of bombers as well ground attack airplanes. One of those equipped with whistlers, to cause panic on troops and civilians on ground.
Today is not easy to count all products delivered by Eduard to extra enhance look of kits and one of them is SC 50 bomb set in 1/72 scale. Must say that it is deliver a year ago and as well I did not have kit to use it, this review is so late. Set presented here is their Brassin series product, coming in transparent plastic box, with instructions inside, resin parts and decals. Stock number is 672115.
Inside of box is parts for the eight bombs in total, so this mean you can equip two Fw 190F with this set. Resin parts are those with bombs and with whistlers. First what I did is spray them all in basic black coat and after that painting.
Painting is in Eduard instruction described as RLM 71 green color for bombs body and silver for the whistlers. Must note that not all are painted like that and there is variation. Some bombs are painted in RLM 02 color, maybe even in underside color and many photos shown whistlers in all black color or front side silver and rest in black. I have seen one photo of bomb where rear side (with stabilizers) is in protective red brown color. So take care when paint it, there is possible options.
If you use whistlers, they are used in pairs on stabilizers, left and right side, two sides does not have them. But this only in case that you need to use it, not every SC 50 use it. So take attention there too when decide to complete kit. Rear side of bomb body have strip on it. Strip can be red or yellow, depends from bomb purposes.
Completed bombs I mount on Fw 190F kit, I have completed some time ago. This is good products, with good variations of builds (no matter there is just few parts to use). Good to have it and I recommend this set. Great thanks to Eduard for sample products.
